Nick Drake

November 25, 1974: Nick Drake dies of an overdose of antidepressants. The coroner concluded that the cause of Drake's death was suicide, although this was disputed by friends and relatives. Antidepressants of that time were quite lethal if ingested in any higher dosage than the one prescribed. His mother recounts that he must have had difficulty sleeping and had got up in the night to have a bowl of cornflakes. It's unclear whether he took more pills to help him sleep or take his own life.

new computer

Got a new computer. The old one stopped booting up. The kids at the Geek Squad told me it wouldn't really be worth upgrading or even fixing (plus, I don't have the Windows install disks). I dropped a thousand on a new box, got my old files transferred, plugged it in, and it works. There's my christmas present to myself.

I still have the old one. I'm going to install XP and see if it works and if I can use it for storage or something.

And now I've got e-mail. 138 new messages.

getting back

Almost have the computer back to where I want it. Next, I need to get my old e-mail messages and address book back. I've got the files, I just need to know where to put them.

Then, I need Photoshop. the old copy was pirated, and also... old. I want the latest edition. I don't have Office anymore, because the old one of those was pirated too. Cyn's got it, though, so I can use her computer if need be.

One thing I changed, was keeping most of the icons off my desktop. The only one that won't go away is the Recycle bin. What's up with that?
