the flight
Nov. 8th, 2005 11:11 amI got up shortly after 6:00, and we were out of the house before 7:00. We had no trouble getting through security, and had time to sit and watch the planes.
It was cloudy until we reached Denver, where the clouds broke up over the mountains. They had cleared up completely by the time we reached Utah, and we could see the desert country well. I was impressed by the mountains, mesas, canyons, rivers, lakes, dams, etc. I was impressed by all the colors we could see. Red, orange, yellow, light green, dark green, deep blue, purple, browns, white - often in the same area. I wish it had occurred to me to get out my atlas and follow along with where we were. I think we were just north of the Grand Canyon proper, but I'm not sure. We saw a couple of big dams, but I'm not sure which ones they were. Looking at the map now, I don't recognize them.
We didn't have any trouble at LAX, except a long wait at Hertz. I was hoping for a Crown Vic, but we ended up with a minivan, since I wanted satellite radio for the drive across the desert, and that's all they had for me.
