lightning storm (camping)

Early this morning, the thunder woke me up. Or maybe it was my bladder, since it was more insistent than the thunder. There was thunder, but it was more background noise than anything. The lightning was constant. It was as if someone had set up two or three giant strobe lights behind the hill. The thunder kept rolling around in the background. Periodically, the lightning would strike closer and the flash and the rumble would break into the fore. This went on for nearly an hour. I've never experienced anything quite like it. After that, the rain turned from a sprinkling to a downpour, and the thunder and lightning became heavier. I'd guess we got over an inch.
