done and almost gone

Cyn spent some time at the duplex finishing the last bit of cleaning and stuff. I would like to have canceled gaming and done the work myself, but we'd already skipped two or three weeks recently.

I went over there after work to take some pictures, and have a last look around. I was rather surprised to find a dumpster in the driveway. I wish I had known it was coming. I'd have put the bathtub in it, rather than hauling the pieces back here and then out to the curb.

In about ten hours, we'll be signing the papers. We're cutting it loose.

It's over!

Done and gone. We've got cash.

Last weekend turned hot. Sunday was in the upper eighties, and ever since, it's been in the eighties. The tulips didn't last long. Hasn't rained either.

The dianthus are all blooming. The previous owner had quite a variety of colors. The garden outside the kitchen window has an abundance of them, so I was worried there were too many, but the different colors are nice.

The irises are nearing their ends. The one outside the kitchen window was tall. When the bud appeared, I thought it was going to be dark maroonish purple, but when it opened, it seemed more orange. It has yellow in the interior, and brown near the outer edges. The overall impression is gold/brown. They get lighter as time passes. They have an interesting spicy scent.

I finally got those seedlings planted on wednesday. The morning glories were healthy when I planted them, but are now a little wilted. Some other plants are now dead.

I pulled a lot of weeds around the east side of the house, and the SE end, and NE corner.

We went to Stein's and bought some annuals for the planter boxes. New Guinea impatiens, alyssum, daisies, marigolds, verbenum and coleus. And more dirt.

Planted heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and some asparagus roots. And two rows of onion sets. I think I bought them too late in the season. Many of the little bulbs were soft, rotten or dried up. You get what you pay for. We're getting a late start on the garden because of the duplex, but now that that's gone, we need to get in gear. We still have some broccoli, cauliflower and green onion seeds to plant.

In fairness, I have to say that there were a few storms in the area last week, but none of them came through our neighborhood.
