growing conservatism
Sep. 15th, 2004 11:51 pmWisconsin is quickly turning from a swing state into a conservative one.
Our state senate leader, Mary Panzer was defeated in the Republican primary. Her campaign literature is all about not raising taxes, anti-abortion, passing the concealed carry law and other various conservative causes (but mostly the taxes). She lost because she is not conservative enough. She compromises too much. She felt that her job as senate leader was to get things done, not have things bogged down. So she compromises. State Republicans are taking their cue from Washington and using their majority to push their agenda - no compromises.
And the guy who beat her is against abortion in all cases. You know, even the kind where if the mother is going to die, that's god's will, so we shouldn't be interfering.
