We got home too late to go down and watch the fireworks, but we could kind of see them from the house. And we could almost see the show from the next town over. So we ran around the corner to the school, and we could see both shows. Grafton's didn't seem as nice as usual, but maybe because we weren't lounging on the grass looking up at them.

American Music
Jul. 5th, 2004 10:37 pmOur local "classic hits" station did what they call the Uncle Sam Jam this weekend. Every year for the Independence Day weekend, they play only American music. I'm not a big fan of this because most of my favorite rock is British. I find most American rock a little on the dull side. Sure, we have Jimi, and The Doors, but in my opinion most of the more interesting rock is British - Floyd, Zep, Yes, Supertramp, Traffic, U2, Tull...
Anyway, I really only listen to the radio in the car. I had it on on the way down to Milwaukee at noon today. A half hour trip, and about the best song they played was Steve Miller's "Space Cowboy." I'm not a huge Miller fan, but I like that one. An hour or two later, I drove over to Home Depot (less than ten minute trip) and I heard another Steve Miller song. After less than half an hour in the store, I get back into the car, and Steve Miller was on again. Fine. So around ten o'clock, I drive back home from Milwaukee. I listen to a different station. After a while, the techno got a little tiresome, so for the last ten minutes of the trip, I flip back to the classic station. Bill Joel again. Not happy, but I put up with it. Then, guess who they played after that? Abracadabra! Steve Miller!
Sigh
