Jun. 17th, 2004 10:50 pmA while back, I decided that we had a week's worth of work to do to get ready for teh countertop installation. And then it turned out we didn't even reallyi have a week. Now it seems I underestimated the amount of time required (what's new, huh?). I'd like to say I got the bare minimum of work done, but I didn't, really. It will go in tomorrow, and everything will be fine, but it won't be good. I'd tell you about it, but it wouild take me half an hour to give you all the stupid little details.
Saturday, we went to the funeral of my stepmother's father. then we worked at Cyn's the whole rest of the weekend. We finished patching the walls (again, not completely). Then we rushed down there after work on monday and sprayed the texture on the walls. We got out of there at 9:00, drove to my dad's to return the compressor, then got home a little after 10:00. The walls weren't as done as I thought before we sprayed them. Too many cracks, peeling paint, wallpaper remains, etc.
Tuesday night was Michael's high school graduation. That was awful. It was nice see him up there, but the rest of it... nevermind. Afterwards, Cyn and I went ouit for drinks with Heather and Sebastian. That was nice. Another late night, and we'd spent about fifteen minutes at home for the previous four days.
Wednesday night we "stayed home" so we could take care of things. Like going out and ordering carpet and buying paint and stuff like that.
Today was a luncheon for Cyn's 25th anniversary with her company. It was in middle fo the day, so I toko a vacation day. After that, I went to her place to paint. Didn't getmuch done. I expected to put a coat on the walls behind where the countertop is going in tomorrow, but there were stains that kept bleeding though the Kilz. We did get the ceilings painted (first coat), though. And the lower cabinets.
We're trying to get wedding inviataions out. My dad created them for us. We picked them up on Monday night, and wanted to get them in the mail by tomorrow, but we don't even have all the addresses yet. And we're going out of town this weekend. My family reunion is going on. With all the work we have to do, I might have considered skipping it, but since we just got married, we kinda have to go.
We'll be spending all of next week trying to get the kitchen finished. It will take me a whole night to reconnect the plumbing. Then we do one more coat on the ceilling, two coats on the walls, and then do all the cabinets and woodwork. Hopefully we can get that done by next Sunday.
So as you can see, we're rather busy. (My time on LJ has been abbreviated.) We're barely able to keep up with the necessities around here, like laundry, dishes, mowing. My upstairs apartment is not getting finished. I expect the kitchen floor to be put in in a couple of weeks, and there's several days of work (at least) to do on the floor before that. Not to mention the walls need to be done first. I hope we can get all the rest of the work done by the time the carpeting gets installed in a month, but I'm not feeling optimistic.
