We got rid of our landline a couple of weeks ago. I got that number when I moved out of my mom's place, and into an apartment. I'd had it for half my life.

I liked the landline. You always hear it when it rings. I hardly ever hear my cell phone ringing. The audio quality is good. The sound doesn't cut out. You never lose signal. It never runs out of power. Someone could call that number if it didn't matter whether they talked to me or Cindy it was the house phone.

Unfortunately, we got too many calls from telemarketers and not enough from people we know. Like, none. My mom would occasionally call it, but that's about it.

I like my house phone for the same reasons, but most of the calls are scams, not even marketing. I don't need to pay for that.

Hmm, now that I've looked at it that way, I need to have a discussion with my SO about whether it can go.

Man! That sucks... we have been wanting to GET a landline so daughter can talk to her friends and I don't have to hand over my phone. And for emergencies to dial 911, etc. But our friends got a landline for the purpose, and they have their ancient rotary phone hooked up to it but never pick up the phone for the same reasons. gah. So, the reasons you shared we have been postponing it a few years now!!

We did have Vonage that was a VOIP but acted like a landline, but that also was an additional expense. The kids have become so used to video calls though, so maybe it's late to get it now.
