Google Earth

Have you seen this program? If not, download it (if you can - not for Macs, yet). It's amazing what detail they show in their satellite views. But the real kicker is that it shows the terrain in 3d. You can zoom around in the mountains. Or turn the 3d buildings on and zoom around Manhattan. I retraced most of where we went on our trip in Novemeber. I traced the whole way from LAX to the top of Mt. Wilson. It was pretty wild to learn what was just over the ridge from where we were.

Just for kicks, here are some images I took from Google Earth, alongside pictures I took when I was there.

You can see the panels on the roof of your house.

for about two years after i put them up, you couldn't. then they updated the photos. they are out of date again, i think they are from before i moved the fence in the back yard.

That is way cool. The Register have now found someone who discovered a WW2 bomber flying over his village when he checked himself out :)

That's really cool. I was also impressed with the U2 in fligyht, from the black helicopters expose.
