tooth , part 1
The dentist shot me so full of novocaine (or whatever it is they use nowdays) that my ear and my eyelid are tingling. And the right side of my jaw - I was shot on the left. I'm getting a crown (I never knew I was royalty), so he had to grind away the entire surface of the tooth. Now I've got a temporary crown and have to go back in two weeks.

It's not surprising to me that it has that kind of action - it is an alkaloid compound, basicly "poison made by plants".
oops.. it's novocaine! Checked on-line to see if there was a good bit about the toxicity. It's derrived from cocaine HCL, one of the most famous alkaloids.
but yah, it goes away. The time I felt it the most obvious was after having novo about 5 times in 6 months, and that time I got the shivers from it (not horrible, but not fun either).
