guess the songs hints

You guys got half of them. Not too bad. Here are the remaining lyrics.

3. I am woman, hear me roar - if you don't open my door
I can do anything that a man can do - but I don't have to
Well the female sex has a lot more class, unless we're looking at a male stripper's ass
I'm a 20th century gal, but I can't set my VCR

7. Everybody says I've got great balls of fire
[nobody got this one?!]

9. Come on try and move those feet along/Fifty million Frenchmen can't be wrong
[This is an odd one. It's part of a song from a movie, but this part doesn't appear in the movie. But this film has two other representatives in this list, so take a guess.]

10. Now it took seven months of urging just to get that local virgin
With the sweet face up to my place to fool around a bit
Next day she woke up rosy, and she snuggled up so cozy
when she asked me how I liked it it hurt me to admit...
[Sounds like Dr. Hook is backing this guy up on the song.]

11. I look to the sea/Reflections in the waves spark my memory/Some happy, some sad/I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
[Several people knew that this was "Come Sail Away," but everyone guessed it was by Styx.]

12. The Red sea walls stood like a canyon
The pharoah pulled up in his wagon
And saw within those walls of glass
A herd of whales go racing past

13. I'd sell your heart to the junkman baby, For a buck, for a buck
If you're looking for someone to pull you out of that ditch, you're out of luck, you're out of luck

14. You might as well be walking on the sun/Intergalactic, planetary, planetary, intergalactic/I get knocked down, but I get up again
[Someone figured out that this was one of Weird Al's polka medleys, but the title is still out. Anyone else have a guess?]

If that's "I got stoned and I missed", I thought it was Dr. Hook. You have a Shel Silverstein version?

"... missed it"

It is "I Got Stoned and I Missed It." Silverstein is singing it. He wrote most of their songs, but I'm not aware that he performed or recorded with the group. Actually, I know little about them. He had a poor singing voice, so I'd be surprised if they let him sing with them, but maybe they backed him up on his own record.

7's AC/DC's big balls. I thought I or someone had got it, or I would've answered.

Yes, it's "Big Balls." You get the credit for it, but not the bonus points for the correct artist.

Well, either the anonymous Googler above is right about #7 and #11 both being from tribute albums, or perhaps they could be done by a cover band. Not knowing too much about your musical taste, the only national-level cover bands that I can think of are Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, and Ghoti Hook, but that's a long shot.

"Come Sail Away" would have been a good one for Me First to cover. Never heard of Ghoti Hook. I have some covers by The Brown Derbies, which is an a capella group. They've done quite a variety of covers of popular songs, but not these. "Big Balls" is by a band who did an album of AC-DC songs, but in a quite different style. I can't give you any more hints on "Come Sail Away."

I take whatever I can get.
