Mesothelioma

Steve McQueen and Warren Zevon both died of mesothelioma. Its only known cause is exposure to asbestos. Both had worked with asbestos at blue-collar jobs, early in their careers.

I did not know that!

I lived in a house with asbestos siding when in Colorado with my then three year old kid. I believed them when they said that is would be more dangerous to remove it than to live with it. We lost the house in an unexpected military move. I suppose I should be glad?

I think they were right about relative danger. We had asbestos siding put on the house when I was a kid. As I understand it, the danger comes when bits of asbestos are air borne and you breath them in.

Ick.... so have I.... well, worked around it, at least. Now you've done gone and got me worried.

Was the asbestos being worked on? It's most dangerous when it gets messed with and the particles go airborne. If it was just sitting there, you're probably okay.

It was just there, but you'd occasionally bump it, scattering it a bit... I wore a mask after it got on me once. Itches a bit.

I'd guess you'll be okay.
