new WTC design

winning design

I love the part that says, "The top floors will be filled with life-affirming indoor gardens." Okay, nobody will want to work in the top floors - too dangerous. So what do we put up there?" "Gardens! Okay, but how will we sell that idea?" "We'll call them 'life-affirming!"

"Libeskind says that having calculated the arc of the sun, a wedge of natural light would funnel visitors to the memorial site, and that every September 11 between 8:46 a.m., when the first tower was struck by a plane, and 10:28 a.m., when the second tower collapsed, no shadows will be cast by his buildings." I like that idea. (Poorly written paragraph, though.)

Thanks for posting that link, I hadn't seen it yet.

It's ..weird. It's hard to imagine that as part of the skyline.

So do I. Mostly. I couldn't really see it very well.

I kinda like them. They're shiny and pretty, yet look very fractured which is some nice symbolism.
