IT question

If I'm logged in to LJ, can my network administrator use that status to view my protected posts?

I think it would take a little work.

Uh-Oh...that's not a "No".

Hell, if you log into LJ from work, it's probably just as easy to sniff your network traffic and suck up your password, use it whenever they want. If you're *really* worried about your IT boys, just don't log in from work 'cause they have physical access to the equipment. If they really care, they can see it.

(I do that IT type shit, sometimes.)

Hmm. That doesn't sound good.

Maybe that's what my admin does when he works late. At least he can't get to my e-mail. I don't do that here.

Thanks Oberon.

On the other hand, depending how many users he's responsible for, unless he's got a particular dislike for you, chances are you're just one in the crowd.

I don't think he has the motivation to do so, but I wonder. He seems to have a lot of time on his hands. And he is a sneaky kind of guy.

As others have said, it's not too hard for someone in his position to see your requests going out to LJ. Each one carries your ID and password (although the password is mildly encrypted). He could send requests for pages that appear to come from you. This would be rather tedious to do if he is just browsing to see what he can find. If he can figure the decryption of the password, he can log in as you the normal way.

Is he trying to find out private things about you?

No, I was just wondering, given the sensitivity of certain private posts.
