Christmas card philosphy

I heard a woman say, "I don't send out Christmas cards anymore. I gave that up seven years ago. I feel so much better. I hope I see people so I can wish them a merry Christmas."

Some people send them out to absolutely everyone they know.

I only send them to people that I don't give them my holiday wishes in person.

We send out a lot. It's getting to be too much though, and I've already decided that next year I'll send out the letter that I usually do (people like that; only time a lot of them hear from us and gets them up to date), and probably a picture of our son, but no more cards. Doing the letter and addressing and signing the cards is too time-consuming.

I'm already looking for ways to streamline things for next year ;)

I send them out as gestures of love, appreciation, and friendship. If I never get one in return from a particular person, then I consider dropping them from my list. To me it indicates that the feeling is not mutual or they have no interest in holiday cards.

I like receiving them. I like displaying them. I like looking at them as part of my holiday. They make me simply happy.

Finding the time to write them out is another story....

we send out a holiday letter every year or so....this year's stationary is a scanned watercolor of some holly that my wife did......we were going to use another piece with some beautiful northern lights that she painted, but it was too big for the quantity of stuff in the holiday letter and i think it rude to use font's below 10pt....sometimes the holiday letter goes out in february......we don't have a real schedule.....we send it to our friends and relatives that we care about....it doesn't really matter if we receive a card/letter in return......
