migraine?

Apparently I just had a migraine. Just the aura.

This page, with its video, describes it perfectly. It started when I was reading the paper, which made that tricky. Not impossible, though, and I was able to find that website while under the effects.

Wikipedia tells me that there are several phases to a migraine.

Prodromal or premonitory symptoms occur in about 60% of those with migraines, with an onset that can range from two hours to two days before the start of pain or the aura. These symptoms may include a wide variety of phenomena, including altered mood, irritability, depression or euphoria, fatigue, craving for certain food(s), stiff muscles (especially in the neck), constipation or diarrhea, and sensitivity to smells or noise. This may occur in those with either migraine with aura or migraine without aura.

Funny, I've been very irritable this past week.

After the aura phase is the pain phase, and then the postdromal phase. Rarely, an aura occurs without a subsequent headache. This is known as an acephalgic migraine or silent migraine.

A friend of mine went on a mild anti-depressant, and rarely gets the headaches now. I'm glad he got the relief he needed.

Migraines are so weird.

I think I've had a few but, I've never done anything about it. The scalp on my head even becomes ultra sensitive and feels pain. The top of my head feels like it's going to blow off with pain. I get nauseous. I take 4 advil, then about 30 minutes later, I take 4 more. Some times, I have to take 2-3 more in an hour but, that usually does it for the majority of the pain. Alternatively, if I'm able to fall asleep before the pain gets really bad, when I wake up, it's gone. In my case, I think it's triggered by stress.

Tell me about it! I'm sorry to learn that you're becoming more acquainted with them. Boo hiss.

Have you had this before? I'm sorry, Kevin, and I hope nothing more happens.

I had a similar vision problem once, a couple three years ago. Worse, actually, and slightly different than happened today, but that's it.

A little later in the afternoon, I had some slight headachey pains around my eyeballs.

I hope that's the most you'll get. And that is weird.
