lost stuff

My shoes are very dirty. They're in good shape, so I didn't want to just pitch them, so I stopped at the shoe store and picked up some cleaner. Then lost it. We looked everywhere for that stuff. Everywhere.

I didn't remember bringing it into the house, though. We searched the car and the garage. Still nothing. Then Cyn mentioned something about hearing something rolling around in the back of the car when she went to work. Then I figured it out. The night that I got the stuff, we also got groceries. I was in a hurry to get out and help Cyn unload the groceries, but I didn't want to leave the shoe cleaner in the car, so as I got out of the car, I set it on top of the car. I think. If that's true, then it fell off the car somewhere between home and work, or maybe on the return trip.

What's really annoying is that if I'd tried to clean my shoes that night, instead of putting it off (I'd been wanting the stuff for weeks), I would have looked for it and discovered it on top of the car.

One day your shoe cleaner stories are going to be the death of me.

Oh, wait--that's [livejournal.com profile] shrijani I was thinking of.

Sorry you lost the shoe cleaner. I hate those little things.

Usually, my wasting money sotries involved late fees due to missed payments. Fortunately, this was only five bucks.

It was a thin enough can to get wedged in the luggage rack for a while, I bet.

You should just go to the shoe shop and get a shine, like I do! No messy bottles to lose! Plus, it's a professional job! Try it, TODAY!!!

Hmm. I wonder if there's anyone who'll shine white athletic shoes? Nah, they don't have to look professional, only better than they were. :-)

Tennis shoes? Washing machine? Are they leather?

[identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, leather. The washing machine wouldn't be good for them.

[identity profile] mummm.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Nope... definitely no washing machine for them!
I have this belief that all tennis shoes should be machine washable. ;^)

Washing them might help get the stink out! I ought to throw the laces in the washer, though.

My shop can dye shoes to whatever color, they repair, they can replace your soles, pretty much anything you can imagine doing to shoes!

[identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
My shoe shop is pretty good, but they're probably not *that* good. I imagine you've chosen one of the best shops around. :-)

oh man. i hate when that happens.

i was all scattery at a certain time in my life and left something on the roof of my car about four times during that period! realized it, but, still.

moral: never place a thing on the rooftop of a car.

I thought I'd learned that lesson already.

I forgot a small watermelon in the back of my Blazer once...In the Summer heat, it fermented then EXPLODED!

Did they cleaner work on the shoes?

[identity profile] shoo.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
if you found it, that is...

[identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, didn't find it. I'm not 100% certain that I left it on top of the card, but it's the only answer that really makes sense.

How long was the melon in there?

[identity profile] shoo.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
um...I think it was 4 days in 100° weather....ooops!
Same thing happened with an avocado that rolled in the crack of my trunk...ewwwwwwwwwww!
