There are all kinds of ways to "control the results". Many companies can control by unspoken threats to withhold money the medical schools want--and need. That happens all the time in many business.
It makes me think of the recent flurry of news bits concerning the thought that you need some time in the sun without sunscreen to get vitamin D and calcium. The short releases mention skin cancer as "seldom fatal" while other organs need D and calcium. When I read an article that went more in depth, they said no more than 15 minutes at a time, 2 or 3 times a week is all that's needed. I would think you would get that from errands, a short walk etc.
I guess I'm more sensitive to skin cancer fatalities because my brother, Russell, fights the deadly kind of skin cancer all the time.
