The other night I dreamed that I sat in with Elton John's band, on bass. His regular bassist was out. I wasn't very good, but they took me anyway. I thought it was supposed to be a small show but it was at the sold-out arena. I got there late so I missed the first song. I was passable, but not great - for a while. I was playing a Rickenbacker. Between songs I went back to the guitar racks to get a different instrument but there was nothing else I could play. They were all six, eight or twelve string basses, and a few Chapman stick kinds of things. So I had to get the Rick back, but it wasn't there. The guitarist and I looked everywhere for it while Elton was doing the next song solo. It was about half an hour into the show, but Elton quit the concert because he/we sounded so bad. He was a bit frustrated, but not angry. I tried to apologize, but he didn't seem to think it was my fault.

I can't often be bothered with other people's dreams, but that was a good one. I wonder why it was Elton John - do you like him?

I have no idea why it was Elton John. Maybe because his music is so bland I could play along?
