snow and snow
Feb. 2nd, 2021 11:07 pmWe had a couple of snowfalls around New Year. One a little heavy. The weather remained just below freezing for several weeks, so not only was it warmish, but we got to keep the snow. Perfect!
Then last Tuesday it snowed again. I think they predicted three to six inches, but it was more like six to eight. It was fairly light, though, so that was helpful.
Then on Saturday night it snowed again, more like eight to ten. The snow wasn't wet and heavy, but it did pack well, so it was... medium difficulty. It packing so well, I would like to have built a snow sculpture, but I didn't really have any ideas. Or time, since I spent so much of it shoveling.
Sunday, it was still snowing by noon, but I started shoveling anyway. Fortunately, the snow was all light, lake-effect snow at that time, so it didn't amount to much more. I went out, what, three times between noon and four? Or was it four times. I went back out one more time after gaming, and got the end of the driveway opened up.
I meant to go back out last night, but I got busy with some other things and forgot. So tonight I cleared the front walk and widened the end of the driveway a little more. We're supposed to get more snow in a couple of days. Right now the forecast for Thursday say "wintry mix to snow, 4.5 inches." We'll see. Then this weekend, overnight lows will be well below zero.
I'm happy for the snow cover. It keeps the plants safe in the cold. And by reflecting the sunlight, it helps keep global warming at bay. Besides, I just like snow. It's much nicer than bare, cold ground - dead grass and frozen mud. It's pretty in the trees.
