end of the summer
Sep. 22nd, 2002 11:20 amI guess summer is over. For the last few years, September has been nice, and sometimes the first half of October, but it's been getting steadily cooler. It doesn't sound like it will get out of the sixties this week.
We had a wedding to go to yesterday. It was my stepbrother's. I wasn't real happy about going, mostly because I don't think he should be getting married, and partly because I've got other things to do.
People were trying to talk him out of getting married. His wife is untrustworthy and immature. I guess he thinks they should be married for the sake of their kid, and he hopes that if they're married, she'll stick around. People tried to tell him that, no that won't make her stick around, and she'll take half of what you've got when she leaves.
It was a nice day, though. The weather was great, at least for the ceremony - one of those ten-minute attorney deals, in the park. Cindy and I came home after that, because the happy couple and two dozen of their friends were going bar-hopping after that. I wonder how the bride made it through that, since I hear she was pretty hungover that morning. We went back out to their house for the buffet dinner. A cold front came through so it turned chilly and rainy. I spent quite a while talking with my stepsister. I don't recall ever exchanging three sentences with her before, so that was nice.
I'd still rather have been home, though. Like I said, the weather was nice, like the last day of the summer. I wanted to finish that painting, outside. And the lawn could stand to be mowed. I thought the wedding was in the early or mid afternoon, but it turned out to be at noon, so I lost a couple more hours I thought I'd have.
