the back

So the official diagnosis from the MRI is disc trouble. The disc is squishing outward and pressing on the spinal cord. The doc recommends a steroid injection. That is supposed to help enough that it can recover on its own. If that doesn't work, the fix would be surgery. Spinal fusion, I guess. The only good thing about that is that it's the lowest vertebra. The injection sounds painful. I've got to wait six weeks. I've got a week's worth of pills in the meantime. :-(

At least they've finally figured out what it is. That's half the battle.

I've heard good things from people who have had steroid injections to help with things, and I hope this goes well. Man - and I hope the pain meds can help.

:(

Will they give you more pills?

I was hoping it wasn't a herniated disc. :(
Somebody I know here on LJ just had surgery for that and it's not as bad as it used to be. She's recovering well and is back at work after just a week. Anyway, I hope you get some relief soon, Kevin. But why do you have to wait for the injection?
