bridge houses

When we took the architecture cruise, the focus was on the buildings. I enjoyed the bridges too. I must have been the only one. Hey people, you're looking the wrong way!


All the bridges were similar, and operated the same way, but each bridge house was different.

And notice the bollards. Those were everywhere on the river. Aside from being in various states, they were all the same. Some were barely standing, some only had a few pilings left, some were lying on the water. But they were all wooden pilings wrapped with chain.


I was so intent on lining this shot up, the bridge house and the golden sign, that I never noticed the streetlight. Oh well.


I like the way they built the building around the little bridge house.
