This was an old bench we got from a friend, several years ago. I made new slats for it, and repainted the castings.

I worked on the wooden parts while I was on vacation. I got them all the way to stained in two days. I had them on sawhorses then, when she walked into the room. She didn't seem to notice.



After that, I told her I had her christmas present in there, so I don't think she went back in. Before she came home from work, one night, I sprayed primer onto the castings - in the basement. It filled the house with fumes. Not good. When I did the paint, I sprayed it in the garage, then carried them to the basement to dry. She thought something smelled a bit odd in the garage.

So she knew something was going on, just not what.
