carcass

When the snow melted, it exposed a dead deer, a couple of miles up the road. By thet time I noticed it, there was a hole in it side. A black hole, with a couple of white ribs covering it. Then another hole in its front, below the neck. I kept waiting for it to be removed, but it never was. The holes grew. Later on it started looking a little shrunken. Still furry, though. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed it had been moved. Maybe coyotes dragged it a few feet. The other day, I noticed it had been moved a little higher out of the ditch. Now it's a dried out carcass, mostly bone.
